Dentists Divonne-les-Bains

Implantology, Periodontology, Smile aesthetics

Our dental practice, specializing in Implantology, Periodontology and Smile Aesthetics, uses various dental techniques to ensure healthy teeth and gums and thus optimal functionality and a beautiful aesthetic smile.

Oral health is essential in our everyday life. It conditions how we speak, eat, smile or even sleep. Pain and functional problems related to an infected gum, cavities, missing tooth or canker sore, for example, can have a major impact on our well-being. Likewise, damaged, unaligned or yellowed teeth can have a negative impact on our self-image.

The dental system forms a whole; it includes in particular the teeth, the periodontium (including the gum) and the jaw bone and each of these elements can have an impact on the other. It is well known that having healthy gums is essential for maintaining strong teeth.

Surgery and Implants

When a tooth is missing, getting a dental implant is not only an aesthetic act; this improves the quality of life of the patient in particular by restoring functional comfort by alleviating chewing and speech difficulties. It also avoids the inconvenience of removable prostheses or bone loss related to the extraction of a tooth and its consequences.

In order to achieve this implant, it may be necessary to increase bone volume by bone grafting or bone regeneration, thus allowing the implant to remain in place..

In the case of an implant or dental recession, the dentist may perform a gum graft in order to restore thickness and height to the weakened gum. Both restorative, preventive and plastic, this surgery strengthens the supporting tissues to protect the teeth and, often, restore a beautiful smile.

Other types of dental surgery are possible. Wisdom teeth, for example, often need to be extracted because they can cause significant pain, gum inflammation or, if there is bone loss or decay on the adjacent tooth.

Cosmetics & Catering

Muco-gingival restaurative surgery is used to correct morphological defects in position, quantity and quality of underlying soft tissue and bone. As in the case of implants, where it strengthens weakened gums, this technique can be used to cover bare roots, to mask the coloured root of a devitalized tooth or to prepare the gum for a future dental prosthesis or implant.  This plastic surgery of the mucogingival tissue also makes it possible to reduce a gingival smile by increasing the visible part of the teeth or to restore the symmetry of the smile.

Other techniques, on the tooth this time, allow also to correct the smile line / teeth alignment (small inter dental spaces, small overlaps, ...): ceramic veneers are then used. Veneers can also correct the color of the teeth when the teeth whitening treatments are insufficient and also their shape (worn, broken, too short teeth ...).

When the tooth needs to be restored or its shape corrected to a greater extent, the dentist then uses several types of prostheses depending on the size and location of the restoration. For example, inlays can be used to reconstruct a fractured incisal angle or to replace old amalgams that are unsightly (colour) and not very watertight. An onlay may be used to restore an eroded or worn tooth.. More known, the ceramic crown will cover an entire tooth and the bridge which will replace one or more missing teeth.

Care & Prevention
The basis of dental prevention is to ensure good dental hygiene by brushing your teeth (2 to 3 times a day for 3 minutes with a suitable toothpaste) and using interdental brushes or dental floss. Indeed, these actions allow to eliminate the dental plaque and to keep a good balance of the oral bacterial flora. When this balance is broken, pathogenic bacteria develop and colonize the mouth, leading to periodontal diseases and cavities

From the Greek word paro meaning "around" and from ondont meaning "tooth", periodontics or periodontology is the specialty of dentistry concerned with the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the periodontium, ie the tissues that support and sustain the tooth. An important branch of periodontics is the treatment of gums.

At the risk of repeating ourselves, healthy gums is essential to maintain strong teeth.

You should consult when you have a gum problem such as swelling, bleeding, bad breath or abnormal sensitivity. Often these symptoms are linked to bacteria which accumulate at the junction between the tooth and the gum, causing localized and inflammatory conditions: it is gingivitis , which represents the first stage of paradontitis . Indeed, without treatment, the bacteria will continue to weaken and even destroy the periodontium, eventually causing the tooth to loosen, and potentially, tooth loss. The dentist is then led to carry out non-surgical acts such as scaling and surfacing but also surgical acts: regenerative dentistry, dental surgery, dental surgery, dental surgery, etc..

Preventing and treating cavities are two very important actions. Brushing 2 to 3 times a day, avoiding snacking between meals, is one of the key elements of prevention. For children between the ages of 6 and 14, preventive sealing of furrows can be performed to prevent the infiltration of bacteria and food and thus significantly reduce the appearance of cavities. It is also advisable for children with a high risk of cavities to perform regular fluoridation throughout the eruption of the teeth (from 6 to 13 years old).

When a cavitie is not treated in time, the tooth decay reaches the pulp and the nerve usually undergoes inflammation, which triggers severe pain, known as "tooth rage". Endodontic treatment (root canal treatment) is then necessary to remove the nerve, disinfect the canals and fill them with a disinfectant paste to prevent further pain.
