Baby teeth:
First teeth - First bacteria

Bacteria

The bacteria appear with the first teeth. It is you, the parents, or the nanny, who pass it on by tasting your baby's food with his spoon, when he puts his fingers in your mouth and then his own... BUT there are "good" and " bad bacteria !!! In order not to transmit cariogenic bacteria (responsible for cavities), you must not have "active" (untreated) cavities, and your hygiene must be impeccable ...

Brushing his teeth

A tip: Brush your teeth in front of him ...he will soon want to do the same as you !!! In this case, there are specific toothbrushes for toddlers...Normally after a few months, his perspicacious eye will have noticed that you previously coat your toothbrush with ...toothpaste !!! Attention it is very important to give your child a toothpaste adapted to his age (so, not yours !) : indeed, before 6 years old, your "tooth decay hunter" swallows the toothpaste, hence the risk of fluoride overdose if you give him an adult toothpaste. "Fluoride is good for your teeth", but like all good things, you should not abuse it !!! So before 6 years, the toothpaste must not contain more than 250 to 600 ppm of fluoride (it is written on the packaging). From the beginning, "brushing" must be associated with the end of the meal: I eat with my teeth, I wash them... We dirty the dishes, mom (or dad ?!) does the dishes... In the evening we don't eat in the dirty dishes at noon... It will become an automatism...

Get your children used to drinking water, and only water, at mealtimes for nutritional balance. Squeezed fruit juices are also welcome as they provide vitamins.
